Where I Live
140/365 - Where I Live
Home, Street, Town.
Okay, some more skipped days, three to be exact. Sometimes I struggle with doing pictures from the prompt ideas. We went to Cassville for the week-end and I did have some ideas but didn't make the effort to drive to get the pictures. I got tired of trying to come up with my own picture ideas last year but not sure I'm fond of always taking a prompt picture. I may shift gears here, midstream. My pictures may not always represent the prompt list. There may be something else that I want to capture. Its my project, I can do what I want. There isn't 365 police.
This is the front of our house taken in very bright sunlight. Can't even see the porch swing behind the mammoth trees.

A Wide Angle
124/365 - A Wide Angle
The Big Picture, Not Narrow, Less Than 50 MM.
Finally got organized and started my big project of scrapbooking all our old pictures. It took the scrapbook desk, the cutting/ironing table, the sewing desk and even an extra tray table to get everything spread out and organized. Now if I can stay with it to get it done.
The problem is, I love to organize and get a project started but it usually ends there. I just hope this one will be different.

Orange
123/365 - Orange
Citrus, Carrots, Juice.
Went to McDonalds for lunch today with Jentry. This is the orange drink in the fountain machine. This was a rare time when we went in and didn't just drive through.

Those Eyes
122/365 - Those Eyes
A Friend, A Family Member, A Love.
I had thought I would catch a picture of Noah, Brooklynne or Carters eyes at the art fair at their school tonight. But as we were waiting for Noah's choir to sing, Jentry decided she was ready to leave. She can really look pitiful and sad when wants to. She was pouring it on thick to Jennifer, pleading her case. You can't really see her eyes that good but believe me, they were welling with tears. You can even see Jennifer's eye.
She has learned to use this little act to get what she wants and she even has the pathetic little shaky voice to go along with it.

Eye Love
121/365 - Eye Love
A LIst, A Sign, Loves.
I interpreted this prompt as something your eye loves to see. We have been taking advantage of the half price milk shakes after 8:00 at Sonic. The kids love to go get shakes. Brian is the one that thought of this sign when I told him what the prompt was.

Harsh Light
120/365 - Harsh Light
Bright, High Noon, Outside.
This was around noon time out on the front porch. The sun was very bright. Don't really like the way the picture looks but thats what you get with very bright sunlight.
I have to admit that I'm glad its the end of April. I have struggled with photography this month. Just not excited about it and didn't put much effort into the creative part of it and didn't spend any time to search out a good picture. With a brand new month, I feel rejuvenated and am looking forward to starting fresh. Hopefully the pictures will show that.

The Price
119/365 - The Price
At the Pump, At the Grocery Store, On the Shelf.
End of the day and making do with something in the house. Our favorite pizza is Papa Murphys. Its take and bake and we love it and eat it about once a week. The Rancher is our pick for $13.00.
Sunday, April 28, 2013
On the Floor
118/365 - On the Floor
At Eye Level, From a Low View, Resting.
These are all the burn marks on the carpet in front of the fireplace. We burn real wood in our fireplace and I don't like having the screen up because it blocks the heat. Our carpet looks terrible and we have come to the point of having to repalce the carpet. Pretty sure when the new carpet is put in, we WILL be using the screen.
Saturday, April 27, 2013
Fresh
117/365 - Fresh (NOT)
A Portrait, Fruit, On the Vine.
I didn't have any fruit and nothing growing on a vine so I found these donuts. As you can see, the date is April 18 and today is the 27th. So, not so fresh.
Friday, April 26, 2013
Fence
116/365 - Fence
Pickets, Barrier, A Leading Line.
I could have taken a picture of alot of better looking fences, but once agian, no effort, just go in the back yard and take the picture.

Mobile
114/365 - Mobile
With Your Phone, Movable, Versatile.
Could have had a good mobile picture today. Brian has outpatient surgery on his arm and I could have taken a picture of him as they wheeled his bed to surgery BUT I didn't have my camera with me, such a no no.
Instead, I went to the basement and took a picture of all the kids riding toys. We haven't done anything to the basement because the kids love to go down there and ride these things as fast as they can. When one kids says lets go to the basement, they all start calling which bike they get. There are lots of fights and tears because of having to share certain bikes but for the most part they do fine.
You will also notice the big break in the drywall behind the bikes. Well, it wasn't the kids. Brian went down one evening to play with the kids. We were upstairs and all of a sudden we heard this horrible noise. We were quiet for a second and didn't hear anyone crying. Then the kids were running up the stairs to tell us "Grandpa broke the wall". Brian had ridden the little pink scooter and hit the wall and fell into it. The kids thought that was the greatest thing ever. After seeing the hole in the sheetrock, I was surprised he wasn't hurt.

113/365 - Mail
Boxes, Envelopes, Delivered.
Our brick mailbox full of junk mail. Tuesday is junk paper day and I don't usually even go to the mailbox that day.
Monday, April 22, 2013
Bow
112/365 - Bow
Tied, Dressed Up, A Finishing Touch.
I don't tie good bows but his is one that I tied on the ends of my spring cross stitched pillow.
Sunday, April 21, 2013
Blooming
111/365 - Blooming
Flowers, Trees, Flourishing.
Not something you want to see blooming but unfortunately we have a yard full of them. Brian is doing his best to kill them. Already sprayed once and will have to do it again.
The only other things blooming in our yard is the bradford pear trees and I have taken enough pictures of those.
Saturday, April 20, 2013
White
110/365 - White
All Colors, Advances, Pure.
The babies have all slept in this white crib at our house. Maesyn's colorful pajama's really show up with all the white around her.
Friday, April 19, 2013
On the Edge
109/365 - On the Edge
Not Centered, Off Center, To One Side.
Okay, didn't quite follow the prompt as was suggested but I did get the "edge" picture. This is the blade of Brian's razor knife.
Thursday, April 18, 2013
Passed Down
108/365 - Passed Down
Treasured, Used, Heirloom.
I have been collecting these jewel tea dishes for several years. Most of the pieces have come from flea markets and Pops has bought most of them. He says they are really his dishes and I'm just storing them for him.
There are a couple of pieces that have come from family. I have the little pot that sat on the stove to hold grease, not sure of the proper name for it, and it was Grandma Grace's. This piece is a cake plate that belonged to Brian's Grandma Buchanan. I was lucky enough to get it when she died.
My Mom tells me that jewel tea was sold by a door to door salesman way back in the day. Mom said that when Grandma would see him coming she would tell my Mom, "the jewel tea man is coming, go to the back of the house". Grandma and Mom would hide so she didn't have to answer the door.

A Pile
106/365 - A Pile
Gathered, Together, With a Fork.
This is one of the favorite toys in the toy room, the large lego blocks.
Monday, April 15, 2013
Sprouts
105//365 - Sprouts
Seedlings, Breaking Through Soil, New.
This is a little more than sprouts but the buds are slowly turning into leaves.
Sunday, April 14, 2013
Stairs
104/365 - Stairs
Climbing, From Below, From Above.
These are the new steps from the deck Brian built last summer. Didn't put any effort to go anywhere except the backyard.
Yes there is a skipped day here. I missed yesterday because I absolutely could not come up with the picture for self portrait feature. Just can't find a "feature" on me.
Friday, April 12, 2013
Touch of Yellow
102/365 - Touch of Yellow
A Flower, A Part, A Part of Spring.
It was late and I hadn't found a touch of yellow. I walked through the laundry room and saw this picture that my Mom cross stitched for me in 2000. There was enough yellow to suffice for the prompt.
Another make-do-at-the-end-of-the-day picture. Been doing that alot lately.
Thursday, April 11, 2013
Overgrown
101/365 - Overgrown
Green, A Path, A Garden.
This is a house on the corner of Parker and Harold that we drive by everytime we go out to K7. I told Brian I wanted to go up there and walk around and take pictures of the overgrowth. There were vines climbing up the side, vines hanging off the eves and stuff growing on the ground beside the house. I was walking around snapping away and when I got back to the car Brian pointed out this tree. It looks like a an old antenna the the tree has literally grown over. Had Brian not been with me, I'm not sure I would have even seen this.

100
100/365 - 100
A Number, With Tiles, An Accomplishment
This is the creativity of Brian. I have made it to day 100 with only one missed day.
We went to Talk of the Town of burgers and I was trying to come up with something fun for 100 and Brian suggested we do onion rings for the 0 and a french fry for the 1. The only problem is they don't have regular fries, they are waffle fries. So, we improvised and this was the end result.

Ears
99/365 - Ears
Two, Up Close, Silly.
Gage was hanging out watching TV early this morning so I snuck a picture of his ear.
Monday, April 08, 2013
Pastel
98/365 - Pastel
Pencils, Flowers, Crayons.
Two years when Donna and I got the bug to start quilting, by hand no less, this is the crib quilt I made. The material is 50's reproduction in pastel colors. This was all pieced by hand with the exception of part of the border. I just wanted to get the top done so I sewed part of the border on the machine. Looking back, I wish I hadn't done that.
I haven't had it quilted yet because I am still toying with the idea of hand quilting it. Donna quilted hers by hand and she thinks I should too. Just don't know if I would ever finish it.

April Showers
97/365 - April Showers
Raindrops, An Umbrella, A Lego.
They were calling for rain today but it didn't rain until well after dark so I had to improvise.
All those old Reader's Digest songbooks come in handy sometimes.
Saturday, April 06, 2013
Morning Light
96/365 - Morning Light
Out Your Window, On the Horizon, Through Trees.
I didn't look at the prompt the night before, as I sometimes do, so it was mid morning before i realized I needed a morning picture.
It was kinda cloudy but light, so I took the picture through the budding trees toward the sun.
Friday, April 05, 2013
Unlikely Pair
95/365 - Unlikely Pair
Unmatched, Unusual, Improbable.
Once again I have stretched the prompt.
This isn't really an unlikely pair as they are brother and sister, however, at this particular moment they were. Grace was having a pouting spell. Now before you think this looks so cute and that little brother is trying to console her, oh no, no, no. Instead, he is going nah, nah, nah right in her face so she could be sure and see him, which in turn made her even more mad.
Thursday, April 04, 2013
Brand New
94/365 - Brand New
Budding, Fresh, Appearing.
My bradford pear trees weren't quite budding yet so I had to come up with something else. Molly and I met at the mall today and we shopped at Bath and Body Works. They had the brand new summer scents out and of course I had to try them.
And by the way, this one smells really good.

Where You Stand
93/365 - Where You Stand
Look Down, Shoes, Your View.
I know this looks weird and believe me, it was really weird taking the photo. It turned out to be alot more tricky than I thought.
As you can tell, I'm standing in the shower, because thats a place I stand everyday. With the shower curtain pulled, it was too dark. So Brian held the curtain open a little bit, I had to be sure and hold the camera above the shower spray which wasn't easy. Then of course, the warn water steamed up the lens. So, it isn't very clear but thats the way it is in the shower first thing in the morning.
Tuesday, April 02, 2013
Strut
92/365 - Strut
A Walk, A Support, A Swagger.
Gage's cast has not slowed him down one bit. The way he walks around, it could certainly be considered a strut.
Monday, April 01, 2013
Foolish
91/365 - Foolish
Silly, Jokester, Crazy.
We were watching Dancing With the Stars and a fast song came on and Grandpa and Blake decided to get jiggy with it.
Sunday, March 31, 2013
Baskets
90/365 - Baskets
Filled, Hidden, With Eggs.
Egg hunt is over. Eggs have been gathered up and the baskets stacked up for another year.
Saturday, March 30, 2013
Dyed
89/365 - Dyed
With Color, Eggs, Soaked.
Keeping with the tradition, Pops dyed eggs with the great grandkids. There was only one dropped egg out of 7 kids and it was from Pops and Gage.
I love it that all the kids have had the special time with Pops dying Easter eggs.
I'm sure you noticed there wasn't a 88/365. Yep, I really did completely skip a day. I was upset about it at first but decided it wasn't anything to stress over, so I moved on.
We drove home from Wichita and Pops and Granny got here a little after we got home. The day got away from me and I just didn't think about it.
Thursday, March 28, 2013
Flowing
87/365 - Flowing
Water, A Beverage, A River.
We made a special trip to QT just so I could take this picture. But it wasn't wasted because I am always up for a drink from QT.
Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Hunt
86/365 - Hunt
Play, Chase, Pursue.
This photo has nothing to do with the prompt except the same name.
Brian and I went to Wichita to his HOA Building Officials annual meeting and this was his name badge.
Tuesday, March 26, 2013
Color
85/365 - Color
Flowers, In Nature, Complementary.
I got some pictures this morning while the kids were coloring their Easter pictures. I have the act of coloring and all the colors in the box in the background.
Monday, March 25, 2013
A Pine Cone
84/365 - A Pine Cone
Solitary, On White, Brown.
I can't take credit for this picture but it was taken on the right day.
I got home from work and had already changed my clothes into my pajama pants and shirt when I remembered the prompt for the day. I didn't want to put my clothes back on and especially my snow boots to tromp through the snow to take the picture.
There is a large pine tree in the yard across the street from us. When Brian got home from work I asked him to take the camera and go see if he could find a pine cone in the tree. This is the picture he came back with. I'm thinking maybe he needs to be taking the pictures for this project because he did a great job on this one.

Landmark
83/365 - Landmark
A Feature, Prominent, A Marker.
This is the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site. Its here in Olathe. This is the last remaining stagecoach stop open to the public on the Sante Fe Trail.
The 160 acre farm was purchased in 1858 by J.B. and Lucinda Mahaffie. They operated a stagecoach stop fro the Barlow and Sanderson Stage Line from 1863 to 1869. The Mahaffies stayed at the farm until 1886.
The building to the left of the house is the original ice house. I like the way the place looks all covered in snow. Our 3rd big snow storm this winter.
Saturday, March 23, 2013
Texture
82/365 - Texture
Smooth, Rough, Detail.
This is my box of cross stitch thread. I love the way they look all lined up and straight. When you look at this picture, you can almost feel the thread between your fingers.
This is a very special thread box that they are kept in. Pops made this for me several years ago and it means so much to me.
Friday, March 22, 2013
Nurture
81/365 - Nurture
Food, Rest, Movement
I'm not sure me or anyone else would describe me as nurturing but I would like to think I have done my part in nurturing my grandchildren.
I have been privileged to be able to stay home and keep all the grandkids at one time or another. And I hope I have helped encourage them while I took care of them.
These are Maesyn's toys and her walker. Its a part of our living room furniture and a part of our life.
Thursday, March 21, 2013
Hiding
80/365 - Hiding
In the Bushes, On Your Desk, In the Fridge.
Can you find the hidden chewy spree???? I really didn't do a very good job hiding it.
Wednesday, March 20, 2013
Plant Something
79/365 - Plant Something
Flowers, Potatoes, Seeds.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I don't grow ANYTHING. So this was a tough prompt. I thought I would feature the ONLY living plant in my house.
There is a story behind this philodendron. When my Mom and Dad got married over 60 years ago, my Dad's Aunt Wilmmomie gave them a start of this plant from one of her own. For years, I remember this plant sitting on a coffee table in our house.
When Brian and I got married, my Mom gave us a start off the same plant. That has been over 35 years ago now. I frequently give the plant a "haircut" and cut it way back then it fills out and keeps growing. Now my plant is a pale comparison to my Moms.
She transplanted hers into a large pot years ago and it sits in front of the patio door and to say its huge is an understatement.
At my Mom and Dads 50th wedding anniversary, we took a picture of them and Aunt Wilmommie with the philodendron.
I'm so impressed that I have kept the plant alive all these years. Guess that speaks to how hardy these plants really are. But it looks pretty good for 35 years. And my Moms looks great after 60 years.

Play a Game
78/365 - Play a Game
Pastime, Match, Sport.
The kids were on Spring Break this week so I didn't keep them today. I'm sure there would have been more interesting games being played if they were.
I can pass a lot of time at work playing Spider Solitaire. I play it at home some evenings. This is about the only computer game I play,
